NUEVA BOUTIQUE DIOR EN EL PALACIO DE HIERRO SANTA FE
Dior is pleased to announce the opening of its new boutique at El Palacio de Hierro Santa Fe, in Mexico City. The interior combines the elegance of the Louis XVI style with a modern, minimalist design – an ideal setting for women’s leather goods, shoes and accessories by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Additionally, for the first time, men´s ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes and accessories by Kim Jones also will be available at El Palacio de Hierro.
The ties between Dior and Mexico have existed since the House’s founding. Monsieur Dior’s taste for travel marked his very first collection, in 1947. He named one of his evening looks Mexico, a gown with a lemon and lilac pattern. Other Mexican-inspired designs followed: Acapulco, Soirée à Mexico and Mexique. The relationship between Dior and El Palacio de Hierro began in 1950 and was met with support from the iconic actress María Félix, a fervent admirer of Dior elegance. In November 1954, six of the Dior Paris models arrived at El Palacio de Hierro to present the H line designed for Autumn-Winter 1954.
This new boutique is inspired by the design of the Dior Champs-Élysées boutique in Paris and features a beautiful storefront in white textured stones. The windows and two large entrances – one leading to the women’s area and the other to the men´s – are framed by gray arches. The two universes interconnect inside, allowing a complete shopping experience.
The floor, in natural white oak, features various custom carpets for each space. A marble display table welcomes visitors to the women’s area, where the walls are covered in a warm champagne finish combined with toile de Jouy, a House signature used in Dior´s first boutique by decorator Victor Grandpierre. A classic 18th-century design, this print has been reinterpreted by Monsieur Dior’s successors and adds to the timeless elegance of the boutique.
A large accessory area offers a generous display of women’s shoes and sneakers – with a connection to the men’s shoe display and ready-to-wear salon. The Santa Fe boutique will open with the new Spring 2021 men’s collection by Kim Jones and will also showcase the Dior Essentials collection, a reinterpretation of the House´s iconic codes. Visitors will be able to discover the highly sought-after B27 sneaker – a personal favorite of Kim Jones – and interpretations of the famed Saddle bag as well as the innovative Hobo bag.
In the women’s salon, guests will find the most coveted handbags including a complete assortment of the iconic Lady Dior, the bag created in 1994 that has become a symbol of the House’s heritage and modernity. A large footwear section will unveil new Cruise 2021 styles by Maria Grazia Chiuri and variations of the J’Adior pump, the latest Walk’n’Dior sneakers and an enticing array of Dway sandals and Granville espadrilles.
