Waring Brooke

We are a nation proudly becoming more aware of reducing waste and living a sustainable lifestyle.  British knitwear designer Samantha Brooke, Co-founder of ‘Waring Brooke’ takes a multi-pronged approach to reducing fashion waste with a vision of the future firmly in mind.

Based in rural Nottingham, England, Samantha creates luxury knitwear designed for those who share their love of the outdoors and who have an interest in protecting the British countryside.  With the majority of used clothes ending up in landfill or being incinerated which then releases more carbon into the atmosphere, Samantha’s ethos is to create timeless quality pieces in a responsible and ecological way which are designed to last.

As seen in Vogue and highlighted as ‘one to watch’ within the fashion industry, Samantha is passionate about changing consumer attitudes to buying clothes and wants people to become more aware of waste.

After years of styling commercial jobs with international designers, Samantha became disheartened with mass production and the increasing damaging impact on the environment.  Growing up in a family involved with recyclable energy, she has always been very aware of waste and carbon footprint, so being able to join her love of fashion and ethics made total sense.

“We are passionate about the move away from fast fashion which is polluting our planet.  One solution lies in buying less and choosing better quality items that are made as ethically as possible.”

The ethically sourced natural fibres used by Samantha are biodegradable and created to be as hard wearing as possible suitable for those living urban or country lifestyle.  Her ranges of luxurious knitted accessories can be personalised with your initials for a truly unique gift.

Samantha produces everything at her knitting studio in Nottingham in a responsible way, she washes and presses pieces by hand to bring out the natural softness in the wool.  The mix of traditional and contemporary designs will still look great in 10 years and the playful patterns, sleek designs and earthy colours inspired by the outdoors reflect a spirit of adventure just like its creator.
